It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Ute Barbara Hollar, age 81, of Maple Ridge, on Oct 12, 2025. 

Born August 3, 1944 in Germany. Barbara immigrated at a young age and spent many joyful years making Canada her home. She is survived by her daughter Sabine (Errol), sons Michael, Robert (Randi), and grandchildren.

She will also be fondly remembered by her step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Making the community a part of her life was important to Barbara and she set about finding ways to contribute. Knitting baby jackets for the preemies at the local hospital, baking her famous sourdough muffins for the homeless gatherings with the church and caring for her many daycare children, were all passions of Barbara’s. 

Barbara’s great love was her family and making sure everyone was always taken care of. Her favorite times were when her family gathered round the table for a home cooked meal or a fulfilled night of cards. Those memories are endless and will remain in our hearts forever. That caring nature also extended to anyone who was lucky enough to know her. 

Barbara had a beautiful smile, a wonderful sense of humor and a gentle caring nature. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
