Ida Loman (nee ten Brink)

It is with a heavy heart, surrounded by love, we announce the passing of our Mom, Ida Loman, at the age of 86.

Family was very important, and Mom spent her life caring for the ones she loved. Her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her animals were her world. Later in life she cared for her parents and then her husband to make their life as special as she could.

She was predeceased by her parents, Jan and Mina, husband Joe, brother Rudy, sister in law Judy, sister in law Rose, and nephew Dan. Many friends were also lost; friends that were family.

She is survived by her daughter JoAnn (Eit), Nancy (Lyle), Joey (Lynn) grandchildren, Liana (Brent), Nick, Tessa and Grace. Great grandchildren, Jackson and Alex. Also, many nieces, nephews, and family here and in the Netherlands.

We are happy her suffering is over and she is finally at peace.

We will miss her smile, her laugh, her wisdom, her stories, and her warm hugs more than anyone will ever know.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 30 at 2:00 pm at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel (11969 216 Street, Maple Ridge).  Reception to follow from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Dear family,

First of all, I would like to offer my condolences on the passing of Aunt Ida.

It was a privilege to get to know her during my visit in 2004 with my mother, Hennie Wanningen. Kind, warm, and welcoming — those are the first words that come to mind when I think of her.

I also remember Father Joe as a very kind man. He took me to visit his Native American friends, where I was given salmon to take home. Every day we would go for a walk with the dog and talk about the little things in life. It was heartwarming to see how lovingly Ida cared for her mother, Aunt Mien.

Dear family,
you may be proud to have had Ida as a (mother-in-law), (sister-in-law), sister, and grandmother. She was the figurehead of the family.

I wish you all much strength.

With love,
Anita Meppelink
