Steve Faber, age 56, passed away peacefully at home on January 9th, 2026 with his wife by his side. He was born on March 13, 1969 in Maple Ridge where he resided for the majority of his life.

Steve is predeceased by his parents, William & Joan Faber. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Lisa, brothers Harvey (Deborah), Don (Darlene); one niece Alyssa, and four nephews Cameron, Brendan, David and Ethan (Golden).

Steve was an adorable child with his blonde hair, bright smile and mischievous hazel eyes. He was the youngest of three boys. Spending time camping with his aunts, uncles and cousins at Kalamalka Lake in the Okanagan Valley was a memory he cherished. A trip in a motorhome to Disneyland in California with his family was a holiday that was close to his heart. He also talked fondly about the time spent on a friends farm where they were excited to ride a motorcycle, spend time on the dykes to fish and explore the waterways for frogs, as well as many more adventures.

Learning the value of hard work early, Steve spent time with his brothers stripping forms and doing odd jobs for his Dad on construction sites. He ultimately became an electrician by trade and worked for various companies locally. As a teenager he met the love of his life, Lisa, at a hockey game in Aldergrove through mutual friends. From that day on, they were inseparable. After dating for 6 years they were married in 1993.

Steve successfully built two houses in the mid 90's with the support of family and friends. At this time, he enjoyed quiet walks, going for coffee to meet up with friends for stimulating conversation, attending Canucks games, golfing with family, sky diving and he joined a ball hockey league which brought him even closer to his older brother, Don.  It was an exciting time going downtown to attend a hard rock concert or take in a hockey game. Driving for Steve was where he could escape, with his wife by his side, the music blaring and the sunroof open, he would drive to Kelowna and back all in one day. Steve did not have any children during his 14 year marriage and was divorced in 2007. Although divorced, Steve and Lisa still loved each other and remained best friends supporting each other fully through many challenging times.

After the passing of his mother in late 2013 he moved in with his dad. Shortly after downsizing to a condo, his dad suffered a stroke. While spending his days with his dad in the hospital, Steve would quietly sit with him doing his crossword puzzles. Steve lovingly took care of his dad until he passed away in late 2024, this time together deepened their relationship. Steve was compassionate and had a kind and caring nature. Listening to music was cathartic for Steve and provided a conduit to cope with his internal struggles.  Anyone that met Steve even briefly were immediately drawn to him, he listened and was interested in other peoples experiences. His humour and quick wit were unparalleled; he provided a comfort and ease with people that was disarming. He also had a soft spot in his heart for animals especially all of the cats he had over the years.

In the spring of 2025, Steve was diagnosed with terminal small cell lung cancer. He received excellent care from his GP, Dr. Naidoo, and he appreciated the effort made by his team of oncologists (Dr. Ko and Dr. Ahmed) and specialists at the BC Cancer Clinic in Abbotsford. Ultimately, Steve made the decision not to continue with further treatment due to the aggressive nature of the disease and courageously passed away on his own terms. He was relieved to know that he will be without pain and for his mind to be at peace. Steve's laugh and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by his devoted wife and extended family and friends.
