Simon Floris, 89, of Maple Ridge, B.C. went home to be with the Lord on August 23, 2022.

Simon was born June 23, 1933 in DeWilp, a small town on the Friesland-Groningen border in the Netherlands. Growing up he played soccer and enjoyed fishing. In 1954 he immigrated to Canada settling in Maple Ridge, BC where he met his wife Alice and raised 5 children.  

Simon spent a majority of his career as a plumbing engineer, before spending the last 5 of his working years as a handyman for the Bethesda Christian Association.  

Throughout his life Simon was dedicated to helping others: volunteering, as a counsellor in the Calvinist Cadet Corp, the treasurer for NeighbourLink, on the building committee for the Maple Ridge Christian Reformed Church, and countless hours at the Bibles for Missions store in Maple Ridge. 

Simon was predeceased by his father (Johannes), mother (Theresa), sister (Patsy) and his brothers (Jitze & Wally) 

Simon leaves behind his wife of 64 Years,  Alice, 5 children: Coreen (Perry), Nancy, Mike (Teresa), Dave (Maureen), Grant (Laurie); 12 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren.  

After a life well lived with a serving heart, Simon was certainly welcomed to heaven with these words from Matthew 25:21;

“Well done my good and faithful servant”

A celebration of Simon's life will be held at Maple Ridge Christian Reformed Church (20245 Dewdney Trunk Road) on Monday, September 5th at 1030 am.   A live stream of the service will be available through the church's website: www.mapleridgecrc.com
