With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Roxanne Davidson and Bruce Richards at the ages of 66 and 67, and their beloved dog Pippa.
They are survived by their two sons, Liam and Gareth Richards, their daughter-in-law, and two beautiful grandchildren. Roxanne is survived by her two siblings, Joan and Graeme, and was predeceased by sisters Audrey and Lorna, and brother Dwight. Bruce leaves behind his three siblings, Bonnie, Carla, and Paul.
Mom and Dad were loved by each member of their extended families and a large group of friends, all which they loved in return.
Roxanne was born in Daysland, AB a small community which she left in her late teens and moved to BC where she later met the love of her life, Bruce. Bruce was born in Surrey, BC and spent most of his early life in Aldergrove. The couple met shortly after Expo 86’ at “The Unicorn”. They moved to Maple Ridge in 2001 after their two boys were born.
Roxanne had always touched people throughout her life; she worked as an investment banker for over 40 years, later retiring in 2018 and dedicating her time to travel, friends, and volunteer work.
Bruce’s early days were dedicated to entrepreneurship, which he later gave up becoming a teacher for more than 20 years; Bruce remained a part time teacher after retirement.
Roxanne was best known for her compassion; she loved people, reading, hiking, and exploring. Bruce had a love for rugby, photography, history, and above all else skiing. They frequently spent time in Whistler and considered themselves “locals”, hiking all their favorite trails. Roxanne and Bruce had a love of animals, particularly their Bedlington Terriers, and regularly spoke of their dogs as children. They were passionate in all areas of their lives and lived honest and quiet lives. Upon retirement, Roxanne and Bruce travelled extensively; recently visiting Africa, Mexico, and Europe and had countless plans to travel the rest of the world.
Bruce and Roxanne would want their families and friends to know they loved them all dearly. They spoke highly of everyone they were close to and the fond memories they shared.
A celebration of their lives has not been planned at this time. The family will send updates in the future which will outline a ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Orphaned Wildlife (OWL).

Like many, I was truly shocked to hear about the untimely passing of both Bruce and Roxanne. I have many memories of times spent with Bruce at trade shows while being a sales representative for his company, Design Siam Trading, we worked well together for several years, of course I met Roxanne as well and enjoyed our brief meetings.
My sincerest sympathies to the family, may you cherish the wonderful memories of times shared and you be spared further sorrows!

Bruce was a friend from SFU rugby days. Roxanne’s became a friend when we reacquainted after they got in touch during a camping trip in Alberta - they sought refuge from incessant rains and we welcomed them into our home. We saw them only a few times after that, more so after my wife and I retired to Vancouver Island.
We thoroughly enjoyed their company, went on small hikes together and shared meals, all the while having lots of good conversation. They were both intelligent and warm people, sharing their passions eagerly for travel, teaching, history, politics and nature, and especially of their two boys, their daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.
We were shocked and saddened by this loss, but their generosity and warmth will always be remembered. These two people were fine examples of the best in any of us and we will carry that with us forever.

I knew Bruce only virtually, delighting in his photographs posted on line. In particular, his series of pictures celebrating the old barns of Maple Ridge always brought joy. Even in these limited interactions - commenting back and forth - it was clear that Bruce, his wife, and their family, shared a deep appreciation for the world and the people around them. Garden flowers, skiing holidays, the barns and various scenes around BC were beautifully captured and often accompanied with lovely descriptions or short samples of lyrics from favourite songs. A new post from Bruce always brought joy. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of a valuable couple, and a sweet dog, who clearly loved life and loved to share joy.

I worked with Roxanne at TD 9104. We always talked books, and our latest purchases at ‘our’ store Favourite Finds, and we shared recipes. Roxanne loved to cook and bake. My family moved from Maple Ridge in 2019 and we kept in touch. Roxanne always updated me on her trips with Bruce, her boys, grandchildren, and her dog Pippa. I miss you Roxanne. 💚
