It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Ronald Darcus. A man of great intelligence, humour, and kindness. He fought a brave battle with Alzheimer’s disease and cancer, passing away all too soon after we lost our Mom (Iris Darcus) in November of last year.
Ron was raised on an orchard in Penticton, BC, but found his professional calling in engineering for radio, television, and telecommunications, affording him opportunities to travel the world and be at the forefront of an ever-changing industry.
He also had a great love of family, the outdoors, and the sciences – especially astronomy. He always shared his interests with us, and that has left a living legacy.
His laughter, gentle ways, and wisdom will be deeply missed. He is survived by his children Patrick (Laurie) and Jeannine, and granddaughter Jettana.
Ron spent the last 22 years as an active member of the Pitt Meadows Community. His service will be conducted at Pitt Meadows United Church, 12109 Harris Road at 3 pm, Saturday June 7. There will be a gathering in the hall following the service.

Very sad to hear of Ron’s passing. I only just found out and also previously of Iris’s passing back in November. I remember Mr Darcus as a very calm funny man who was so knowledgeable and interested in what you had to say. He was a great family friend and I am very sad for your loss. Please accept the Calder family’s deepest condolences. May Ron and Iris rest in peace together.
