Roderick John “Roddy” Norberg
Roderick John Norberg—born March 2, 1947, in Revelstoke, B.C.—passed away on September 10, 2025, at 6:30 a.m., at the age of 78. To many he was Rod, to others Roddy, Rowdy, or RJ—a man of many names and stories, some we hope live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
He was predeceased by his mother Margaret “Peggy” Jane Norberg (née Inkster), father Jack Henry Norberg, youngest brother Stuart Ritchie (“Ritchie”) Norberg, and eldest son Bradley John Norberg. He is survived by his younger brother Randy (Randall Ian) Norberg; his son Blair Roderick Norberg (Shawna) and granddaughters Cierra and McKenna; his daughter Nicole Alexandra Battistella (née Norberg) (Simon) and grandsons Eli and Isaac; and his dear friend Iris Williams.
What a guy—truly, to know him was to love him. Few could define “work hard, play hard” like Rod. A man with unstoppable work ethic, musical talent, a sharp sense of humour, and a knack for making friends anywhere, he lived life on his own terms.
He instilled in his children a love of music, a strong work ethic, and the importance of laughter, good manners, and carrying yourself well in the world. His heart showed itself most clearly in the way he cared for his mom, especially in her final days. Above all, Rod was proud of his children and grandchildren, and there was never a doubt about how much he loved them.
Rod will be remembered not just for his accomplishments and friendships, but for the small things that carry his spirit forward: the sound of bagpipes, a boat ride on a lake, the music of Roy Orbison, a two-step on the dance floor, or the mountains and lakes of Revelstoke and Sicamous.
As per his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Please find your favourite place and people and listen to Amazing Grace on the bagpipes in his memory. His ashes will be laid to rest in Revelstoke, alongside his mom and son Bradley.

I knew Rod for only a short time. When I visited Rod I always left with a happy heart and a small bag of chocolate treats. I miss his kindness. RIP, good man. ♥️
