It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Blaise Seward, beloved father, brother, and friend, who left us on July 26, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on February 21, 1960, in New Waterford, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Blaise spent the majority of his life in beautiful British Columbia.

A master hairstylist for over 30 years, Blaise possessed a creative spirit complemented by a cheeky sense of humor that brightened the lives of everyone around him. In addition to his passion for hairstyling, he was a talented carpenter, often crafting beautiful pieces in his spare time. His love for animals, cars, and boating was well known, but nothing compared to the love he had for his daughter, Richelle.

Blaise is survived by his mother, Margaret; his siblings, Rosemary, Hank, Alphonse, and Chris; his cherished daughter, Richelle; his former wife Colette and his partner of many years, Editha.

A celebration of his life will be held on August 29, 2025, at the Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, starting at 11 AM, followed by a lunch reception. Family and friends are invited to join us as we honor Blaise's legacy and the joy he brought to our lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests making a small donation to a local animal shelter or Alcoholics Anonymous program of your choosing.

So many fond memories with Blaise growing up in Coquitlam. We met in grade 7 and instantly hit it off with our love of riding bicycles. Constantly trying to one up each other with our ability to pop a long wheelie or to see who could get the most air off of a jump. As we got into our teenage years, this love transferred to Riding and wrenching on motorcycles. Once we hit 16 it was then cars, boats or anything with an engine that held our interest. Probably the most caring guy I know and don’t even get me started with his love of animals. Miss you buddy.

Words cannot describe how this makes me feel... You've passed on to the other side, though I wish you could still be here with me.. You were a remarkable man dependable, loving and caring you were the center of my world. You were one in a million to me...You were my companion and dear friend. You were my a wonderful partner. You treated me with kindness and respect. Your love showed me good life could be, Your death showed me how cruel, life sometimes is... But good or bad, life has to go even though it's not easy to carry on forever will you live on, in my heart and mind. Forever will you live in my thoughts and never die. with love always, I will remember you, with fond memories, I think of you.. with hope I believe we'll meet again.

He was my first crush in grade 8. He was a good friend He let me learn to drive in his prize car. He was one of the nicest men I ever had the honour of having in my young life. Memories are long and I will never forget him. Rest in peace my dear.
