She is survived by her mother Dilea de Castro e Souza, and her children : Mildo (Izabel), Andre, Alba (Chris), Fernando (Gracinda), Janaina, Sol (Randi), Rida and Shantida. She had twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Regina emigrated to Canada on April 30, 1976 and quickly made her home. She studied nursing, which she practiced both in Canada and Germany. The latter country she practiced as a community nurse for twelve years. Upon her return to Canada, Regina utilized all her nursing skills to become a fully certified Construction Safety Officer. Later on she also became a certified paramedic. Regina employed her work skills throughout the lower mainland and even as far as northern BC and Alberta.
Regina's passion for learning was unquenchable. You could find her reading about world politics and even learning Russian. She was a human rights advocate throughout her life and believed that freedom belonged to all of us.
Regina loved to write and read poetry and was an avid singer.
Regina would want to be remembered by how she loved her kids and friends. Regina lived by her own accord and was unapologetically herself. She was a very independent and adventurous person. She didn't hesitate to help others and was a larger than life character. In the kitchen she was a master of gastronomic endeavors, never to be forgotten.
Regina loved deeply, and we know that those seeds that she planted will be rooted to grow, bloom and bear fruit .
