It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Praveen Gaji at his home in Richmond BC Canada on January 21, 2023.
Praveen was originally from Bello Street, in Samabula Suva Fiji Islands.
He is now reunited with his father and mother, Jagannath and Sarojani Gaji, his older brothers Prakash, Navin and Sony and older sister Sulochana.
Affectionally known as "PRAHBU", he was quiet, humble and sweet. He never forgot he was from the great Gaji family.
As a young boy he was dedicated and hard-working. He helped his Pataji on the family dairy farm and helped Umma at home. He was a brilliant mathematician and a skillful soccer player on the 1968 Combined Brothers soccer team.
Praveen moved to Canada, starting his journey in Ontario then settling in British Columbia. Prahbu embraced the colder weathers of Canada and became a longtime fan of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team. He was determined to live a great life with spiritual meaning. He enjoyed his work at the furniture store and had a passion for horses and the racetrack.
During the early years in BC, Prahbu lived with his loving cousin Suman Lata Chand and husband Subash, their children Shareen and Mohi and his cousin Cisco. Not only did they become an important part of his life, but he also became an important part of their family.
He was loyal and appreciative of the close friendships he developed. He treasured their phone calls, the shared meals and coffee. He was thankful for friends like Rupi "Peter". He enjoyed the visits from his family especially his cousin Alvin "Mondo" Gaji and wife Raj.
Prahbu will be remembered fondly for his dedication to his family, he never missed an opportunity to attend a Gaji event, his kindness, friendly smile, funny jokes and his love to sing great Hindi songs.
Praveen will NOT be forgotten, his legacy will live through his siblings, their children, his cousins and their families.

Praveen my best friend I miss you so much. We shared so many happy moments cooking, laughing, watching sports especially Liverpool and movies. Growing Avocado plants, Dhania plants on your balcony and bamboo plants inside for good luck and much more.
Your kind soul and willingness to help others was such a wonderful gift which made the Praveen we all loved and will dearly miss.
