In Loving Memory of Pauline
On June 12, 2026, Pauline boarded the big cruise ship in the sky and set sail on her next great adventure, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a wake of love that will continue to carry her family and friends forward.
Born on July 22, 1946, in Edinburgh, Scotland, Pauline carried her Scottish heritage with pride throughout her life. She loved heather and thistles and possessed the strength, warmth, and resilience that seemed woven into her very character. Though she made Canada her home, Scotland always remained close to her heart.
Pauline shared a loving life with her husband, Dave, whose companionship, friendship, and love meant the world to her. Together they built a life centred on family, laughter, hospitality, and caring for others. Whether travelling, enjoying dinner with friends, or simply sharing the everyday moments of life, Pauline and Dave created a home filled with warmth and welcome.
Pauline dedicated her career to nursing, caring for others with compassion, dignity, and unwavering kindness. She had a remarkable gift for helping people through life’s most difficult moments, including end-of-life care. Nothing seemed to faze her, and she approached every challenge with practicality, humour, and a caring heart.
She embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. Pauline loved travel and cruise ships, afternoons spent with friends, and evenings enjoying a good meal—especially if it involved tiramisu, pavlova, or a visit to Olive Garden. She never cared much for drinking wine but thoroughly enjoyed dinner at a winery. She treasured afternoon tea, a good book, Purdy’s salted caramels, and lively gatherings around a table filled with delicious food and the people she loved.
Those who knew Pauline will forever remember her playful spirit. She sang silly songs, did a little dance when passing loved ones in the hallway, and always found a way to make people laugh. She delighted in life’s little pleasures—watching her favourite soaps, testing her knowledge with Jeopardy!, enjoying Six Feet Under, reading about history, and spending time with friends. She never lost her appreciation for the simple things that brought happiness, including her cherished collection of dolls and beloved stuffies. Combined with her love of all creatures, furry and not so furry, they reflected the gentle heart and playful spirit that made Pauline so special.
Pauline’s home was a place where no one left hungry and everyone felt welcome. She loved cooking, putting on a spread for family and friends, and gathering with her treasured Macaroni Club. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she found genuine happiness in giving to others.
Above all else, Pauline loved her family. She was a devoted wife to Dave, a loving mother to Jennifer and Garry, and a constant source of support, wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. Her family was the centre of her world, and she took immense pride in the people she loved.
Pauline will be deeply mourned by her beloved husband Dave, her daughter Jennifer, her son Garry, her siblings, nieces and nephews, in-laws, extended family, many dear friends, and by countless others whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing her. To know Pauline was to love her, and her absence will be felt by all who had the privilege of crossing her path.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses, hospice staff, and healthcare professionals who cared for Pauline with such tenderness, dignity, and compassion throughout her final journey. Your kindness brought comfort not only to Pauline, but to all who loved her.
The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many family members, friends, neighbours, and loved ones who have supported us throughout Pauline’s illness and passing. Your visits, messages, meals, prayers, flowers, phone calls, acts of kindness, and unwavering presence have brought comfort and strength during an incredibly difficult time. We are deeply grateful for the love and support that has surrounded our family.
Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the gift of having known and loved her. Pauline’s spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched and the memories we will cherish forever.
Forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.
