In loving memory of our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Nora Ilene Marr, who passed away on July 13, 2026, at the age of 84.

Nora was born on October 17, 1941, in Toronto, Ontario, to Herbert Kenneth Post and Eileen Rose Post (Doherty). She grew up on Orrell Avenue in Toronto and spoke fondly of time spent with her sister, Jane, and her cousin, Duffy. She often spoke of her time at Bass Lake at her grandparents’ cottage. Later, her father purchased land there and built a cottage of his own — a place that became deeply special to Nora and one that her children remember well.

Nora was predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Eileen. She is survived by her sister, Jane; her cousin, Duffy; and her five children, Sean and his wife Sheila, Gordon and his wife Ann, Flynn and his wife Keiko, Kate and her husband Colin, and David. She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Samantha, Laura, Holly, Olivia, Sophia, Paul, Sarah, and Cynthia.

And, of course, Nora would not want us to forget her beloved dog, Rosie, or the newest — and craziest — canine addition to the family, Stevie the pitbull.

Over the years, Nora held many jobs and followed many paths. She originally trained as a phlebotomist, was part owner of an art store in Port Moody, and, for the past several decades, worked as a bookkeeper and tax preparer extraordinaire. She was deeply loved by her clients, many of whom relied on her year after year not only for her skill and attention to detail, but also for her kindness, loyalty, and generosity. Incredibly, Nora completed nearly 300 tax filings this year, just months before she passed away. Since her passing, her family has heard many lovely stories about how helpful and supportive she was — and how often she undercharged people simply because she wanted to help. She also did the taxes for most of her family, who now find ourselves at a loss in more ways than one as we figure out how to do life without her.

Nora was practical, straightforward, and never one to fuss unnecessarily. She loved animals, flowers, knitting, reading, sudoku, cruising, visiting her sister Jane in Parksville, and trying her luck at the slot machines. In her later years, she became easily recognizable by her bright purple hair, which suited her perfectly — a little bold, a little fun, and entirely her own.

She will be remembered for her sharp mind, her independence, her work ethic, her love of animals, and the steady, kind and practical way she showed up for the people in her life. She was one of a kind, and she will be deeply missed.

In keeping with Nora’s wishes, there will be a party, not a funeral, date to be determined. Please wear colour — purple would be perfect — and come ready to share good food, good beer, and good memories, just as Nora would have wanted.
