With profound sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Mark Vincent Bailey, 53, on September 19, 2025 at his home in Port Moody.

Mark was born on August 16, 1972, in North Vancouver, BC, to parents Linda Gray and Larry Bailey. He grew up in West Vancouver, BC, and Anchorage, Alaska, and also lived for several years in Eugene, Oregon, and White Rock, BC.

While we mourn him leaving us too soon, we take comfort in knowing that his last years were his happiest, having spent them with his love, Heather. Mark was known as a gentle giant, with a mischievous smile, a twinkle in his eyes, and a contagious laugh that brought joy to everyone around him. He loved animals deeply, especially his loyal dog, Dexter, with whom he enjoyed many doggy play dates at the park. He found freedom and peace riding his motorcycle, loved a great rock concert, and embraced life with a kid at heart attitude. Nothing made him happier than gathering for family dinners with his large extended family — provided there were always extra mashed potatoes.

He is survived by his spouse, Heather; his mother, Linda; his siblings, Mike (Serene); Sarah (Mike); Scott (Byron); Deanna (Richard); Reine (Savanna); and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nephew, and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Larry, and his sister, Joanna.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the BC Epilepsy Society.

The first thing that struck me when I met Mark, was what a nice guy he was. He had a very kind energy about him and was so easy to get along with. I was so impressed by how good he was with Heather’s boys and how much he loved Heather.

Mark, I know Heather loved you very much. May you rest in peace. You will be very missed.

Ann and I truly mourn the loss of Mark. He fit into our family so well, easy going and likable. He enjoyed family gatherings, especially dinners and had lots of stories to share. Mostly were glad that he made our daughter Heather so happy and got along so well with the boys. Sorry that he left so soon.

I only met Mark a few times when over visiting Heather from Scotland. From the first meet, he was a kind, funny and likeable guy. He clearly loved Heather and the boys very much. I am so sorry for your loss ❤️
