At 104 years young, our amazing Mother, Grandma, and “GiGi” passed away peacefully on the morning of October 13, 2025, in White Rock, British Columbia.

Margaret was born on May 18, 1921, in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, to her beloved parents, Patrick and Rose Ann (née ROONEY) QUINN. During World War II, she proudly served as a nurse overseas, where she met the love of her life, Walter Muche, Sr. After the war, they settled in Vancouver, BC, where Margaret was a longtime employee at Woodward’s Oakridge in Vancouver, BC, working in the China Department.

Margaret is survived by her children: Pauline, Walter Jr., and Wallace (Kim); and her sister Rose Ann in Australia. She was a devoted Grandma to Ashley, Trina, and Shane (Stacy), and a proud “GiGi” to her cherished great-grandson, Orion.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Muche, Sr.; her brother, Jim Quinn, Sr.; and her son-in-law, Kenneth Wootton.

Margaret will be deeply missed by her family and friends across the globe. She lived a long and full life — overcoming many challenges with fierce determination, resilience, and her signature stubbornness. She amazed everyone with her will to live and her enduring spirit. At age 100, she was proud to receive a congratulatory letter from Queen Elizabeth II — and, true to form, she lived to outlast the Queen herself. She was just 7 months and 5 days shy of receiving her letter from the King.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and friends at Al Hogg Pavilion who made Margaret feel at home and comfortable during her final years. A special thank-you also goes to our dear neighbour and friend, Dan, at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, for his compassion, support, and guidance during this time — your kindness has meant so much to us.

Her legacy of strength, humour, and love lives on through the many generations she inspired.

Oh Pauline, I am so saddened to hear of your dear Mom's passing. She was truly one of my favorite patients and I feel so honored to have cared for her eyes over the years. My daughter, Chloe, continues to share her love of corgis with your Mom. I can't picture your Mom without seeing her walking with you and Emma. She was a real gem of a person. I so admired your devotion to her which was always on display.
My sincerest condolences to you and your family, Cindy Anderson
