Lyle Thomas Sullivan, 75, of Pitt Meadows, BC died at home on the farm on August 10, 2026.  He passed away surrounded by family, outside in the sun with a clear view of the Golden Ears.

Born January 8, 1951 to parents Mary and Sam Sullivan, Lyle was raised alongside his big sister, Heather.  The family first lived in North Vancouver and then Port Moody before finally settling in Pitt Meadows when Lyle was 9 years old.  After high school, Lyle joined the Navy and served two years as a Marine Engineer Technician.  His time in the Navy was brief but the source of many colourful stories.  After leaving the Navy, Lyle completed his pre-apprenticeship course for Heavy Duty Mechanics at the BC Vocational Institute.  Later he gained employment with BC Hydro Transit Division and completed his apprenticeship as an Automotive and Heavy Vehicle Mechanic in 1987.  He continued to work for Hydro and Pacific Coach Lines until he was hired as a Labourer and Truck Driver for the Municipality of Pitt Meadows in October 1980, later becoming their Tradesman-Mechanic and finally retiring in 2005.

In the fall of 1974, Lyle met his wife Katie and they were married in 1976.  They eventually had four children together.  Shortly after their third child, Erin, was born, the family built a house and moved to the Neaves Road farm which they owned in partnership with extended family.  Lyle and Katie raised their four children on the blueberry/cranberry farm which became a gathering place for a variety of celebrations, holidays and important milestones.  It provided ample space for their kids, and now grandkids, to grow, run and play together.

Lyle also enjoyed the outdoors, spending time hunting, fishing, smoking meats and camping.  In his retirement, Lyle and Katie took many fishing trips with family and friends to a variety of lakes throughout BC.  He particularly enjoyed his annual trips with his good friend, Bruno and others; fishing in Tahsis in the summer, and deer and moose hunting in the fall.  Before passing he said he would miss our Sunday family dinners and watching his grandchildren play sports, especially hockey.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathleen Sullivan (nee Flynn) and his four children; Jessica (Adam), Sam (Emily), Erin (Sean), Connor (Maja).  In addition, eight grandchildren, who will dearly miss their Pop; Myra, Clyde, Luke, Lila, Thompson, Miller, Blake and Quinn.

Please join us at a Celebration of Life for Lyle on September 6, 2026 at 1:00 pm at South Bonson Community Centre 10932 Barnston View Road, Pitt Meadows.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
