In Loving Memory of Lisa O'Gara
23-10-1963 – 10-10-2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lisa O'Gara. Born in Coleshill, Birmingham, to Pauline and Peter Roach, and a cherished sister to Martin, Lisa lived a life filled with love, joy, and adventure.
In July 1992, Lisa and her devoted husband, Paul, made the bold decision to emigrate to Canada, where they settled in the beautiful community of Whonnock, Maple Ridge. Together, they built several successful local businesses and forged a life that reflected their shared passions and dreams.
Lisa had an unwavering love for nature and a deep affection for dogs, which she and Paul lovingly welcomed into their lives. Her happiest moments were spent on their daily walks to Pitt Lake, with Paul by her side and their many dogs trotting along.
Surrounded by close family and friends, Lisa treasured the contented life they built in Maple Ridge, creating cherished memories with those she loved.
A celebration of Lisa’s life will take place on Saturday, November 16th at Whonnock Lake Centre.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lisa's favorite charity, SAINTS, in her honor.
Lisa’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

I am so saddened to hear of your loss of Lisa.
I know her from working at the Post Office and living in the neighbourhood
What a bright and happy person she was.
Always enjoyed our chats when we bump into each other when out and about.
I will always remember her laugh

I was so sad to hear of Lisa's untimely and early passing. I was in the same form as her in Secondary School in Coleshill and we became friends. We lost touch after leaving school and reconnected on FB a few years ago through a mutual friend after Lisa recognised my photo! I can see how much Lisa was loved by Paul, family and friends and have fond memories of Lisa from school, she was always chatty, often told off for talking, excelled at sports, was mad on Abba, an animal lover - especially dogs, I remember her childhood dog Whisky. Thoughts with Paul and family and friends. Lovely to read the tributes and to see photos of the happy life Lisa and Paul made together on emigrating to Canada. Such a lovely lady, inside and out and taken far too soon. Sleep well Lisa

You are always in our hearts and minds Lisa, especially today on your birthday.
Remembering all the laughs and good times we had, especially when you turned up as our neighbours without telling us😂😂 and the walks and family get togethers on The Ridgeway (the pub still do the rolls and beers).
Lots of love, sleep soundly. 🤗🤗

Following on from my brother's tribute below, our family are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our niece and cousin, Lisa. Our heartfelt sympathies to you Paul, her family and friends at this difficult time. We have great memories of our childhood visits to Coleshill to see Uncle Peter, Auntie Pauline, Martin and Lisa. Sitting in their immaculate garden watching their tortoise come out of hibernation always surrounded by a dog or two. With a joyful smile and positive spirit, Lisa was always up to something and had a story to tell. We shall remember Lisa fondly and feel blessed she was a member of our family. Continue to shine bright Lisa. Rest in Peace.
Sending love to you Paul, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Paddy, Frances, Margaret & families

So sad to hear of the passing of my cousin, Lisa. Myself, sisters Frances and Margaret, mother Sheila and dad Paddy would visit Lisa's family home 2/3 times a year to spend time with uncle Peter (my mothers brother), auntie Pauline and cousin Martin. I remember one year, mid 80's, visiting Lisa and Paul's new flat and their newly acquired Triumph Stag (I think), there was always something going on with Lisa! My mom and uncle Peter would always be in fits of brummie giggles whenever Peter told my mom of Lisa & Paul's next adventure, I can see Peter now rolling his eyes to the sky in disbelief at her next big idea. Uncle Peter and auntie Pauline were very proud of Lisa and Martins acheivements in life, that came across in all the conversations, and many photos, my mother and Peter had during each visit. Uncle Peter, always with his carrier bag.
Lisa, take care, you are now reunited with your dad Peter, mom Pauline and brother Martin Roach.
Best wishes, Kevin.

My mum June (Lisa’s aunt) and I wish to send our sympathies to Lisa’s family in Maple Ridge. She was a great girl and was very much a part of my childhood. My sister Melanie and I spent many summers at Lisa’s house, whizzing about on our bikes and scooters, in her garden and up and down the road. Playing with Timmy the tortoise and her dogs, there were always dogs, even then. She was a sweet, kind and funny cousin, and Melanie and I always looked forward to her visits.
She was greatly missed when she emigrated with her lovely husband Paul, but we kept in touch with their busy lives and achievements through her proud mum and dad Pauline and Pete, and brother Martin.
We are deeply sad that Lisa can’t be here to continue spreading fun and happiness which we so enjoyed.
We loved Lisa, and our hearts go out to her beloved Paul, who has been her perfect match and rock throughout her life and difficult final years.
Blessings to all.
Aunt June and cousin Suzy

Lisa, you really were one in a million. We would talk for hours on FaceTime, along with John and Paul, as we are all from the same town, and knew each other before we all emigrated from UK, also being in the same line of work, we were never short of any thing to say.
We are both very saddened at your early departure, and you will forever be remembered as the happy, funny, thoughtful, Lisa with a laugh that was so contagious, and of course your great sense of humour
We managed to spend time with you in BC, and had an amazing time, of course reminiscing about the good old days.
We will sit and remember you and the fun, sometimes hilarious times we have spent together, both in BC and Ontario. Sending love and condolences to Paul, and the family.
You will be surely missed
Lisa, May you now Rest in Peace, free of any pain and illness 💜

Lisa.
Lisa was happy, witty, generous and had an honest and infectious laugh that never failed to include you and brighten your day.
We got to know her first as our "Post Lady", then as Paul's wife and the friendship, although eventually long distance was always treasured.
During the time that we knew Lisa, she loved her dogs, kept the most pampered chickens in BC. and pampered us as well on many a Friday evening in both of her and Paul's homes in Maple Ridge.
The world will be a duller place and short one more authentic soul.
You are missed.
Such a loss Paul, our thoughts are with you. Stay well mate.
Gaz and Carla. Atlin, BC.

Scotty and I have known Lisa and Paul pretty much as long as they have been in Maple Ridge. Lisa had a love of nature and animals that was above and beyond. She had an infectious laugh and she and I would always laugh and say that we were sisters, she being the younger. Rest in peace “little sister” you will truly be missed. Hugs to Paul and family.

Our whole will miss her a lot and we will think of her daily during our walks.
Much love to Paul and Lisa’s family. We will be here for you.

I had known Lisa, all my life we started school on the same day and her birthday is 3 days after to mine. We were pretty naughty at school and would d often get told off for giggling in class. After Lisa, moved to Canada I moved to Australia we pretty much lost touch until Facebook arrived on the scene. I feel so blessed that we got to send time in Canada with Lisa and Paul 2 years ago and would not have missed that trip for anything. Paul we are so incredibly sad and our thoughts are with you at this sad time.
