John was born at home in Vancouver in 1935 to parents John Owen Roberts and May Jarvis. He went to school and grew up in the Cedar Cottage neighbourhood of Vancouver. After Caroline passed away in 2008, John married Phyllis Moylin (née Pazarena). In addition to his children and their spouses, he is survived by his granddaughter, Stephanie and his sisters Irene (Neil Heron) and Lori (Al Trewella). He was preceded in death by his brother Bill, his first wife Caroline, his second wife Phyllis, and brothers-in-law, Neil and Al.
John had a passion for vintage cars and hot rods, restoring and modifying many over the years. He was a long-time member of the Totem Model A&T Ford Car Club and the Vintage Car Club of Canada.
John was a kind and generous man who volunteered his time to his community and inspired those same values in those around him.

John was a kind and gentle man whom I first met as a neighbour and then became his cleaning lady in his last 2 homes before moving into care.
He was passionate about what he believed in and always had a story to tell.
He would often be watching tennis as I cleaned ,or making soup or cookies.
I missed seeing him when he moved into care.
My thoughts are with his family and many friends at this time.
Go softly John. You will be missed.
