In Memory of
Jillian Leigh Chernecki
1990 - 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jill after fighting a courageous battle with lymphoma. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and especially by her immediate family - mom(Terry), sister (Ashley), stepdad (Al), brother-in-law (Kody) and the two nieces (Maycee and Kensie). Jill will join her dad (Vern) in heaven.
Jill was a strong, independent individual who had a great sense of humour. There wasn’t a task that she couldn’t undertake. After high school, she upgraded some of her subjects and attended SFU where she received her BA in Linguistics and later her Masters Degree at UBC to become a Speech Language Pathologist.
Jill had such varied interests. She loved to travel - Europe and Peru. As well one of her favourite activities was gardening. The roses and dahlias in our yard are testaments to this passion. However Jill’s two main loves were her pets and her two nieces. Jill loved animals. Her numerous cats and her two dogs were her “fur babies”. When she was well enough, Jill tried to be part of her nieces’ lives, attending their functions and showering them with gifts.
On Friday, September 27, 2024, there will be a celebration of life at 1:00 pm at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, 11969 216th Street, Maple Ridge. Lunch will follow in the reception room.
Memorial donations can be made to BC Cancer or the SPCA

So sorry to hear this. I was on the Amazon Riverboat Cruise with Jill. She seemed like such an amazing person from the brief time I got to know her. She will be missed.

To all of Jill's loved ones (both human and furry)
I had the privilege of working with Jill as a Speech Language Pathologist in Chilliwack. During our time together there, I came to know her both as a professional and as a dear friend. She was funny, kind, sensitive, empathetic, supportive, generous, determined--and maybe sometimes stubborn! We shared many laughs and tears together as close friends do. Jill could light up a room with her smile and did so often. On more than one occasion, people mistook us for sisters, which always made us smile. Eventually I started calling her my "little sister" as she was so near and dear to my heart. There are so many things that I already miss about her and will miss sharing with her in the future. I am so grateful for the relatively short time we had together, and know that her friendship has made me a better person. I hold you close in my heart, Jill, and there you will stay. I love you my friend; it was an honour to have known you.
All my love,
Kelly

My deepest condolences to you Terri, Al, Ashley and family.
I feel fortunate to have had the chance to know Jill as a friend and colleague.
She was passionate about her work as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Jill always strived to help her clients reach their full potential. She was also a caring friend who sent her love through baking, flowers, visits, good laughs, chats and walks.
She sure will be missed and remembered fondly.
Hugs,
Cheryl Zieleman

It is with profound sadness that we are commenting here. We were just going to send some puppy pictures last week and then found out the news.
In light of this unfortunate circumstance, and yet there are many people affected and emotions grown from such an occurrence, be encouraged that Jill is now in the presence of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and has received a crown of life.
This life is not the only life, and we are here only for a short period period. To all who read this, be encouraged and be not sad.
God bless all of you and take care
