It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jim Rankin (James Knox Rankin), at the age of 79, on October 30th, 2022 in Maple Ridge, BC. He spent his final days and hours at home surrounded by loved ones and was happy and comfortable.

Jim Rankin is survived by some extended family and was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen Rankin in Feb 2022. Jim was an animal lover and leaves behind his two lovely fur babies, Rubu his beloved Corgi and Fresco his Chihuahua.   There will be a funeral mass at St. Luke’s Parish in Maple Ridge on November 14th, 2022 at 11:00 am followed by a reception in the church hall.

Jim was a very active member of St. Luke’s choir and a cherished volunteer of the St. Vincent De Paul Society for many years. He had a deep love for model trains and founded the Maple Ridge Model Railway Club and had an extensive and impressive train layout in his home for over 45 years where the members gathered weekly. He was also a decorated pipe band drummer his entire adult life and a member of the Legion for 55 years. He will be missed dearly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

I was very saddened to hear of my cousin Jimmy’s passing. His Mother Ivy and my Father Sydney Adams were siblings. I always remember Jimmy and Helen, on our trips to Maple Ridge. Jimmy was always outgoing and had a great smile. You are in great company in heaven, Jimmy. We will miss you.

I knew Jim through the Greater Vancouver Garden Railway club that he was a long time member and loyal supporter of. I used to love hearing Jim’s stories as we shared a club breakfast on the first Saturdays of the month , or when running trains together on the clubs layout. He was a big White Pass and Yukon railway fan.

Jim ( and Helen ) are dearly missed by the club and I wish to pass on my condolences to the family on your loss.
