Gordon, 88 years of Maple Ridge, BC passed away in Ridge Meadows Hospital on January 26, 2026.  

He was born in Regina, Saskatchewan to Karl and Olga Schmidt and moved to Mission, BC when he was six. 

He spent many years working on tug boats on the BC coast and then became a chicken farmer in Whonnock, BC.  

Gord and Cheryl spent many years camping around BC in their RV with the “Moose Wanderers” and then going south in the winters to Yuma, Arizona. 

Predeceased by siblings, Annette, Anton, Edward, Josephine, Rosemarie, Rita and Edith, he is survived by sister Diane Holmstrom (Roger) of Bellingham, Washington. 

He is survived by son Brent (Kathryn, Hazel and Olive) of Port McNeill, BC

And son Brad (Kim, Jenna and Kevin) of Celista, BC.

He is also survived by partner Cheryl Blair (Brandi, Ian and Max) of Waterloo, Ontario and (Krista, Graeme, Jack,Nathan and Markus) of Maple Ridge, BC.
