In Loving Memory of Gordon Louis Ronald Butler

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our dear son / brother / uncle Gord due to heart disease.

Throughout his life, Gord made many friends as he moved around between Vancouver Island,
mainly in the Port Alberni area, the lower mainland of BC and his childhood home in Morninville, Alberta where much of the family still resides.

Gord was the proprietor of Island Earthworks and spent his spare time enjoying the wilderness and natural beauty of the Island. He loved his friends & family and activities like fishing, hiking, or panning for gold.

He leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Sharon, brother, Pat, niece, Amanda, and many wonderful friends & relatives across British Columbia and Alberta.

Please join us in honouring Gord and celebrating the remarkable person that he was on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel (11969 216 Street, Maple Ridge, BC)

For those that wish to join us virtually, please visit the Live Stream link: Gord Butler Memorial Service

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada should you feel inclined.

Oh my friend, I have been trying to find you for weeks. I have been so worried and spending hours each day trying to figure out why you just disappeared, why your phone number was out of service, where you could be. I’ve tried to contact you on every possible method I had available. Because I don’t know anyone else in your life, it was next to impossible but I just knew something was wrong. Tonight I decided to check obituaries and I’ve now found you. I am stunned, shocked and so deeply saddened.
Last summer was one of the best of my life, so many beautiful days on a beautiful river with a beautiful soul. I will never forget finding my first nugget at our favorite spot, and now I will cherish that tiny piece of gold forever because it is a memory of you.
We spent all winter waiting for the rivers to be low and the sun to be out to get back on the gold. Every sunny day I’ve been waiting to hear from you, and now I know that day will not come.
I cannot believe this, I cannot believe I will never see you again.
You were one of the kindest, most generous people I’ve met, you were always there in a heartbeat if I needed you, always there to help anyone who needed it.
I love you Gord, I will miss you terribly. I am so grateful for the time we spent together, for the amazing times we had. Thank you for everything and I hope wherever you are now, everything shines like gold ❤️ See you on the other side my friend.

Gordie was always special to me even when he was a little fella. I was blessed for the time he spent living with me & my son Jesse @ Islandlake & they were fast friends . It was so much a pleasure to have Gordie stay with us for that 6/8 months, we loved him being with us for that time . Not so much his dogs hair but it was all good as having Gord there was great & well i loved his dogs too ( many stories in that reguard) God bless my cousin & enjoy your reunion with you family up there !!
