It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of George Yngve Runar Nelson , age 79, of Maple Ridge, on December 26th, 2025 at Baillie House.
Born July 5th, 1946 in Munsala, Finland, He is survived by his wife Ulla and two sons, Paul and Mark, daughters-in-law, Lisa and Jodi as well as granddaughter Amanda.
He will also be fondly remembered by his friends and colleagues
George loved the outdoors, and found joy and peace in the lakes and mountains up in the Cariboo. His love of the outdoors, fishing and mountain cabin was where George was at his happiest.
George loved to serve his community and was a past president of the Finnish Swedish club at the Scandinavian Centre where he volunteered his time.
George's legacy is one of warmth, compassion and a deep love for his family. He will always be remembered by his calming presence, good heart and warm smile.
He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

I was so sorry to hear of George’s passing. He is a central memory of my childhood and has been an important part of our family my whole life. He was a lovely, gentle man and he will be missed. Love and hugs to Ulla, Paul, Mark and family.
