Evelyn May Marks (Kendell) joined her beloved husband Garfield (Groucho) Skinner Marks and their darling daughter, Lisa Michelle in heaven on June 6, 2022.

Born on February 21,1932 in Morrisville, Newfoundland to Albert and Olive Kendell she was part of a large, loving family.  She and Groucho went on to raise six children of their own – Jocelyn, Glynis, Garfield (Junior), Monique, Cynthia and Lisa – and leaves behind almost 40 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Evelyn lived a long and busy life of 90 years during which she followed her military husband all over Canada, from Newfoundland to Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, then across the ocean to France.

Evelyn loved to read and learn. She especially loved biographies and anything medical. She started her adult life as a teacher, and later returned to school to pursue nursing training. She always took pride in her work, demonstrated an amazing work ethic and encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue learning and education.

When her family was young she sewed beautifully, baked and cooked family meals that are recalled with relish at family gatherings – her famous bread pudding with vanilla sauce and colourful marshmallow salads are family favourites.

Evelyn was a strong minded and independent woman who at age 87 years braved one more big move to the province of British Columbia where she lived with her devoted granddaughter Cherish and family (John, Jordan, Brooklyn) and Rosie, her beautiful but ferocious cat.

Evelyn will be missed terribly by all who loved her, and we will celebrate the reunion of mom/grandma, dad/grampa and Lisa.  After all these years, they are together again.
