TORRENS, Evangelina “Lina"
Passed away on October 15, 2025, in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. Evangelina “Lina” Torrens, 81, a proud BPHSN Alumni (Bohol Provincial Hospital School of Nursing) and a dedicated Registered Nurse who spent her career in Labour & Delivery, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in New Westminster, BC, Canada. Born on December 23, 1943, in Talisayan, Misamis Oriental, Philippines, Lina dedicated 37 years to caring for patients as a Registered Nurse before retiring with a reputation for compassion and dedication.
She arrived in Canada in 1967 and married Oliver Torrens in 1969; together they built a life in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. She was a loving mother to Chris (son) and his wife Gabby and Darlene (daughter) and her husband Andy, and a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren: Hayden, Hayley, Hudson, Makayla, Maxwell, and Malakai.
Lina valued family and friends above all. She enjoyed road‑trips and exploring walks and hikes with Oliver and their two children across North America, including Alaska and the majority of U.S. states. She also traveled abroad to Europe, Central and South America, and the Philippines, but those adventures were always framed by the love she shared with those she cared about most. In her later years she cherished moments with her kids and grandkids.
Predeceased by Oliver Torrens in 2006, she is lovingly survived by Chris & Gabby, Darlene & Andy, Hayden, Hayley, Hudson, Makayla, Maxwell, and Malakai, as well as an extended circle of relatives and friends.
