Eduardo Lagula Alvarez, 80, born in Noveleta, Cavite, Philippines. Living most of his life in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 4, 1946, Eduardo was devoted to his family and built a career first as a cabinet maker and later in health care. He enjoyed fishing, classical music, basketball, baseball, and time spent with loved ones.
Eduardo is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria Alvarez; his children, Mark, Megin, and Melanie Alvarez; ten cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Aguida Alvarez, Leonila Pena, and Leonardo Alvarez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melanio and Crisanta, as well as his brother, Virgilio
Alvarez.
SERVICE DETAILS:
Prayers and Viewing be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 6:00 PM at St. Luke's Parish, Maple Ridge.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
Interment of Urn will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 10:00 AM.
All who knew Eduardo and his family are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
Eduardo, aka. Kuya Boy, Tatay Ed was known for being happy and light-hearted. He always had a joke or a funny face to share, and his unwavering love and devotion for his wife and family will be remembered always. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.

Today, we say goodbye to our beloved grandfather, a truly remarkable man whose kindness, love, and joyful spirit touched so many lives.
He was always a jolly person, full of warmth and laughter, and someone who placed his family above everything else. His generosity knew no bounds. During the times when my family needed help the most, he never hesitated to extend his hand. His love, together with the kindness and generosity of his family, will forever remain in our hearts.
We will never forget his beautiful heart, his selflessness, and the countless ways he made our lives better. Words can never fully express how grateful we are. "Thank you" will never be enough for everything he has done for us.
Though he is no longer with us physically, his love, kindness, and the memories he leaves behind will continue to inspire us. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.
We pray that the Lord grants eternal rest to his soul and surrounds him with His everlasting peace. To the bereaved family, may God give you comfort, strength, and courage during this difficult time. May you find peace in knowing that his life was a blessing to many, and may his beautiful memories remain in your hearts forever.

You were an avid fisherman, truly in your element out on the Winnipeg lakes catching carp, whitefish, and pickerel. I will always cherish the memory of your pure joy and genuine laughter the day you reeled in that massive salmon in BC.
When I first immigrated to Winnipeg, you and your devoted wife welcomed me with open arms and open hearts. I am forever grateful for your warmth, and for the privilege of watching you raise your three wonderful children with such unwavering love and dedication.Your unforgettable, delightful dark humour could always light up a room, even in the heaviest moments.
Thank you for the shelter, the music, the laughter, and the beautiful memories.
You are deeply missed, but your incredible spirit lives on in the family you loved so so much.
