Daniel John Alspaugh

September 18, 1949 – December 13, 2023

It is with great sadness that I share the loss of my husband Danny. He was the heart of our family. Danny was a gentle soul who was taken too soon. He loved old cars, the blues, bad dad jokes, cookies, the Maple Leafs and his cat Fred, but most of all, his family.

Danny was an Award winning Chevron Retailer for most of his adult life. He served on the VPD as a reserve officer as well from 1979 – 1984. He was a true Eastern “Brat”, born and raised in East Vancouver until his dream was fulfilled in 1999 when he moved to Penticton to rebuild a Chevron there, through many health issues.

We moved back to Vancouver (Maple Ridge) to be back home with our loved ones. Danny was just getting to know his neighborhood when tragedy struck. He is now flying high with his brother, Ted and with Bailey Girl by his side, free from pain and sorrow.

With all his family at his bedside, Danny left us to begin his next adventure.

The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the physicians and staff at the Royal Columbia Hospital Emergency and Acute Care.

My big brother Danny,
I love and miss you so much. You were a protective and loving brother all your life. I always knew I could turn to you at any moment; for support, understanding or a good laugh. You were always the funniest guy in the room – and the one with the biggest heart.
I can barely process the tragedy that took you so suddenly from Marilyn and your family. You are so very dearly loved and missed by us all.
Thank you so much for the many wonderful memories created over a lifetime. I am holding you close in my heart big brother, until we meet again.
Lovingly remembered,
Margie

Danny was a wonderful guy. He was my cousin and I will always remember him being such a nice guy to me from a young age.
I would stop in at the Chevron at Nanaimo and 1st from time to time to say hi.
Although we lost track of each other once Danny moved to Penticton we reconnected by phone upon his return to Maple Ridge.
I just wish I could have met up with him again.
Danny, there is a place in heaven for you.
I wish to send my condolences to the family.
Ken
