It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Carmen Cécile Marie Brittain (Côté) on February 9, 2026.
Carmen was born on October 6, 1950 in New Westminster, BC. She lived her life beautifully, intentionally, and with great love.
Carmen is pre-deceased by her parents Leo and Jeannine Côté and survived by her sister Louise, husband Weldon, and their sons Daniel and Colin.
A daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, friend, and neighbor; Carmen played many roles in her life. Carmen's love of sewing shined through with her seamstress and dress-making skills. Carmen was a secretary for 20+ years in the Maple Ridge school district where she enriched the lives of the many people she supported through tireless, careful, and creative work. Those lucky enough to know her well truly felt the warmth of her kindness and empathy. She will be deeply missed by all.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Ridge Meadows Hospital doctors, nurses, and staff for their compassionate care and support during Carmen’s brief stay in the ICU.
A casual celebration of life will be held at a later date to share stories of love and happy memories.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

With deep sadness, I share the passing of my sister Carmen my one and only sister. Carmen and I shared a quiet bond through the years often exchanging thoughts, ideas, laughter, and clips that reflected our mutual interest. Those simple moments of connection met so much and they are what I will hold onto. She will be deeply missed, not only for who she was, but for the space she held in my life that no one else can ever fill. May she rest in peace and may her memory live on in the thoughts we once shared. Miss you love you, sis.
