Beverley June Johnston (née Essery)
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Beverley June Johnston on January 20, 2026. Born in 1935, Beverley lived a life defined by her hard work and her social activities.
Throughout her career, Beverley was a dedicated professional, contributing her talents to Main Glass and later the Vancouver School Board. Beyond her professional life, she cherished the time spent with her many friends.
Beverley was predeceased by her parents Tom and Elizabeth; her brother, John (Vivian); her sister, Susan; her children, Kelly and Stephen; her partner, Tom; and her beloved canine friend, Brandy.
She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, Christine, Diane (Rob); her nephew, James (Tina); great niece, Christina, her stepson, James (Marla) and close friend, Laurie. Her presence will also be deeply missed by the many friends she leaves behind.

Bev’s kindness, thoughtfulness, and professionalism was what sustained my transition from working in a small town to working in Vancouver. Her daily support at the school made life so much easier for me to juggle demands of work and home as I raised 2 kids as a single mother. Her steadfast friendship and care extended beyond those years and she not only continued to care about my children, but my grandchildren also when they arrived. I will forever miss her endearing smile, affectionate hugs, and heartfelt care and advice. I will always cherish the memories of time spent together, the laughter, and the heart to heart conversations.
Rest in peace, Bev, I will always remember and love you. ❤️
