Robert (Bob) James Broad passed away suddenly at 67 on March 16, 2022. Also known as Big Bob, Uncle Bob, two story Bob and the gentle giant, he was calm, caring, generous and patient with a huge heart and a loving soul. He always had a mischievous grin as if he was hanging on to the punchline of a never-ending joke.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 39 years, Karen Madeiros, their children Tianna (Zane) of Bermuda and son Garrett (Brittany) of Maple Ridge and grandchildren Ze’Andre, Zattéo and Remington. Bob also leaves behind his mother Christine of Wynyard, Saskatchewan and mother-in-law Judy of Pitt Meadows, B.C. as well as his sister Bonnie Ann (Dennis) of Dafoe, Saskatchewan, brother Allen (Michelle) of Wynyard, Saskatchewan and 13 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Alfred and father-in-law Clem.

Born in Saskatchewan in 1955, Bob was always a farm boy at heart and he adored animals especially Flicka and Milo. At the farm or at work, he loved machines and the bigger the machinery, the happier Bob was. He also loved to play and coach softball, watch his kids’ teams and build fires at the family campsite. If you knew him you know that whatever needed doing, Bob was your guy. He retired from CP Rail after 37 years with plans to spending more time travelling. Despite living with Young-onset Alzheimer’s for ten years he made many trips to Saskatchewan, Florida, Mexico and Bermuda for holidays and to visit family. The highlights of those years were his children's weddings and being a grandpa.

Please join us to celebrate Bob’s life at 2 pm, Sunday, April 10, 2022 at South Bonson Community Centre, 10932 Barnston View Rd (Osprey Village) Pitt Meadows, BC.

Although we would love to see you, if you are not well please celebrate Bob’s life from home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C. would be appreciated.
