IN LOVING MEMORY OF THILAGAVATHY “TILLY” SIVANATHAN

Our beloved Thilagavathy “Tilly” Sivanathan (nee Vallipuram) left this world peacefully on May 8, 2023 at the age of 92. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Tilly was born to Vallipuram Veluppilai and Theivanayagi Ponniah on December 27, 1930. Tilly was a much loved Physical Education teacher at St. Cecilia’s Girls High School in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. She was referred to by her students as Thilagum Teacher. After her retirement in 1988, she moved to Canada in the 90’s where she continued her retirement. In her free time, she loved attending church, traveling, gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is now reunited with her late loving husband, Thambirajah Sivanathan, Town Coroner JP, MLT, Member of Municipality in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka and her late sisters Amirthanayagi Amirthalingam and Panchamahasothy Vallipuram.

She is survived her children: Suresh (Late), Shakila (Lucky), Kishore (Tiny) and Surekha (Chutty); her daughter-in-laws and son-in-laws: Rathy, Nesam, Erick, Suganthy, and Akram;  her grandchildren: Arjun, Nelusha, Ashley, Lyndan, Lyle, Prathees, Pratheeka, Priyanka, Dilukshikha (Nelie), Dr. Lukshihani (Shelly), and Rukshehara (Cindy); and her great-grandchildren: Kaishyn, Kindryan, Andric and Andino.

A celebration of life will be held on June 3, 2023 at 2:30 pm at the Hope Lutheran Church in Port Coquitlam.
