It is with great love in our hearts and tears in our eyes that we announce that Shiu Sami peacefully entered into the gentle embrace of God on November 12 at the age of 72.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Uma (Mudaliar) Sami, along with his cherished children and grandchildren.
In 1981, Shiu and his family immigrated to Canada from Fiji, where he worked tirelessly to build a life of security and joy for his loved ones. A man of unwavering dedication, Shiu's hands were seldom idle—whether repairing cars or crafting woodwork, he poured his heart into his labor. As he neared retirement, he proudly opened his own automotive shop, earning the endearing title of “the car doctor” from his many grateful customers.
A funeral service for Shui will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 2:30 PM at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, 11969 216 St, Maple Ridge, BC.

Sami was such a kind man!! I always remember taking my car to his shop and we'd end up having great conversations about life. He'd also give me tips on stocks and explain it because the look on my face said I have no clue what you're talking about LOL. He always took the time to teach me something.
I'm so sorry for your loss and my condolences. He truly was one of a kind and will deeply be missed!!

We met at work. Both of us employees at UBC. Always a pleasant exchange of words. Later when he opened his shop in Surrey we would see each other more often. He was close to where I lived. I enjoyed give him a hand when needed and was just a place for a friendly visit. From there I met his family to whom I have become closer. Having dinners together, random visits, invites to family functions and helping fix things around the house. He will be greatly missed. All the best to the family through these saddened days.

On behalf of my late husband, Mr. Harry Gopal, I would like to pay tribute to Mr. Sammy, a man we were fortunate to know and work with for many years. Mr. Sammy stood out for his unwavering honesty, dedication, and integrity—qualities my husband and I greatly respected.
Mr. Sammy was not only a reliable person but also someone whose commitment and work ethic had a lasting impact in our community. His straightforward approach and professionalism earned him the respect of all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.
His legacy of integrity will be remembered for years to come.
