It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Josephine (Lane) McDonogh, who left us April 15, 2023 at the age of 91 years.

Josephine, affectionately known to all as JoJo, was born on May 11, 1931 to parents John and Bridget (Ringrose) Lane, in Limerick, Ireland. JoJo grew up in Limerick in a loving family with her sisters Ina, Carole and brother Tom. At the age of 26, she emigrated to British Columbia (BC), Canada, following the love of her life, Malcolm Joseph McDonogh also of Limerick, who had emigrated two years prior.

JoJo arrived in Kamloops BC where she married Malcolm on December 26, 1957 the day after Christmas. They moved to Prince George BC, where their three children, John, Meave and Stephen were born in 1962, 1963 and 1964. They then set up roots in Trail BC, a community that JoJo and her family loved, and where she was widely known and cherished. In 1996 JoJo made her final move, relocating to Port Coquitlam, BC, to be close to her children, who were all living there and starting families of their own. In her time in PoCo, JoJo made countless friends and touched the lives of many, and was especially loved by her grandchildren.

JoJo is predeceased by her husband Malcolm, her parents John and Bridget, her brother Tom Lane, and sister Ina Haugh.

JoJo is survived by her children John (Gabriella), Meave (Tom), Stephen (Kari), and her grandchildren Sara (Kevin), Josh (Ali), Jordyn, Emily, Carly and Jewel, as well as her great grandchildren Malcolm Walter and Miller Lane. JoJo is also survived by many loving family members in Ireland, who she was able to see many times after emigrating. These include her sister Carole O’Toole and her sisters-in-law Liz McDonogh and Ber Lane in Limerick, and many nieces and nephews: The O’Tooles – Eoin, Elaine and Pat; the Haughs – Tony, Thomas, Eugene, David, Gerard, Joe and Winifred; the Lanes - Joe, John, Patricia, Lucianne and James; the McDonoghs – Peter, David, Brian, Aidan, Kieran, Gerardine, Sheila, Siobhan, and Donogh.

JoJo touched the lives of a great many people in Ireland and Canada, and she will be long remembered and sorely missed. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:00am, at the Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, 11969 216 St, Maple Ridge, BC.

Our sincere condolences to all of Jo's family. Jo's was our best friend for over 60 years and she has left us with so many wonderful memories. So many Irish proverbs, and a few she may have made up herself, but a lot of wisdom in all of them. The life of every party! Her "Mickey Mouse" song was the highlight at most of them. Our family feels very blessed to have had Jo in our lives. She was one of a kind! The best!

Jo Jo's wisdom influenced all our family's life more than she could ever have imagined. Myself, my brother and sister and all our spouses have lived by her sage advice when dealing with employment and interpersonal relationships. "Keep your mouth shut and wear beige" has helped us navigate many challenges and makes us laugh as we remember our Jo Jo. We will miss her.

To all the family of Jo - the O'Riordan family in London (and formerly of Limerick) and our Mother especially Mary O'Riordan (nee Clancy) offer our sincere sympathies to you all. I myself (Cathy) have very fond memories of Jo on a holiday I spent in Limerick with her when I was 16 (I am now 51) - she was full of life and full of mischief and we had great laughs. My Mother Mary (nee Clancy) is a lifelong friend of the Lane family and particularly Carole and always spoke so fondly of Ina, Jo and Tom. May Jo RIP and I'm sure the fun and mischief will only continue in heaven. Lots of Love - Mary, Rosemary, Cathy & Jackie O'Riordan - London x
