James Daniel McGuire (Dan), born August 4, 1932, died April 7, 2023.  Dan was born in Vancouver to Jim and Anne McGuire who were both of Irish descent.  Dan inherited an Irish wit.  He married Anne Cecilia McGuire (nee MacKenzie) on January 25, 1958.  Anne died 23 years ago in April 2000.  He is survived by his brother Bill McGuire, his sister Maureen Matt, his five children: Jeannie Patterson married to Todd Patterson, David McGuire married to Justine Morley, Dianne McGuire, Bridget McGuire, and Daniel McGuire; his eleven grandchildren: Katie, Riley, Megan, Tara, Ryan, Jerome, Aisha, Desirée, Blake, Cael and Marina; and five great grandchildren: Lincoln, Weston, Justus, Kingsley and Kahleah.

Dan loved his family and aviation.  He could be relied on to support his family and provide help when needed.  He flew radio-controlled model airplanes for fun.  At one time he helped design ultralights and flew them.  He worked as a professional mechanical engineer.  He retired at 65 and enjoyed 25 years of retirement.  He lived a good long life.  We will miss him.

There will be prayers for him at 6:30 pm Wednesday May 3 at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, 11969 216 Street, Maple Ridge, BC.  A Mass will be held Thursday 10:00 am on May 4 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 20285 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge, BC.  He will be buried at the Gardens of Gethsemani, 15694 32 Avenue Surrey, BC.  A wake will be held afterwards at 11693 246 Street Maple Ridge BC.
