Iris Norma Darcus (nee Diercks)
Write a TributeIt is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and auntie. Iris passed away peacefully at home shortly after her 89th birthday where she celebrated, surrounded by family.
Born in Thorsby, Alberta to late parents Johnny and Doris Diercks, she graduated from Mount View High School and went on to work as a bookkeeper.
She was known for her generosity, kindness, and love of family and community. Residing in Pitt Meadows for the last 22 years, she lived an extremely full active life as a lover of music, travel, and photography with her loving husband of 65 years, Ronald (Ron) Darcus.
Iris is survived and will be dearly missed by Ron; children Jeannine and Patrick (Laurie), granddaughter Jettana, siblings Audrey, Eileen (Dave) and Marvin, and many nieces and nephews.
Service will be conducted at Pitt Meadows United Church, 12109 Harris Road, at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 14, with a gathering in the hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Canadian Cancer Society where she worked for many years.

Iris was such a sweetheart. She seemed to enjoy everything going on, and especially in music, and when Patrick was playing. When church went to zoom, Iris and Ron were faithful attendees, and we had such happy chats after the service, hearing all about Iris's activities. My thoughts and prayers are with Ron and all the family.

Dear Ron, Pat and Jeannine
I was saddened to learn of Iris' passing. As my most senior cousin, she was always kind to me, interested in what was happening in our lives, and of course very close to my mom Hazel, who was just five years her senior. I remember many visits over the years, and Iris and Ron also hosted my brother Michael for his first year in university. In more recent years, I enjoyed talking with her about the Rogue Folk Club and was impressed by her variety of interests. Thinking of you all with love at this time.
