Ian passed away peacefully at home in Maple Ridge, BC surrounded by his loving family - his wife of 49 years Maya, son Davin, daughter-in-law Julie, grandson Logan, grand puppy DJ, and fur friend Brie.  Mourning his loss also are his niece Lisa Shade in South Carolina, her husband Stephen and their daughters Carson and Emily.  Ian was born in Hamilton, Scotland to the late Catherine and Robert MacLennan.

Ian loved the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Blue Jays, fish and chips, The Price is Right, and Jeopardy.  His only regret is that he did not get to see the Leafs win another Stanley Cup.  He was a former member of Dundas Valley Golf Club and Beverly Golf Club where he spent many years cursing the game but loving it at the same time.

Ian has requested that a family dinner be held to celebrate his 80th birthday in December.

I first met Ian in the early 60's when I was about 9 or 10 years old and he was a playground supervisor at Earl Grey School in the summertime. Ian quickly recognized my love of baseball and basically all sports and encouraged me to pursue those interests. I owe him for the interest he showed in this kid from the wrong side of the tracks. We lost track of each other for many years, but when we finally did reconnect through Facebook I could sense the pride he felt for the way my life had turned out and the role he had played. Thank you Ian from the bottom of my heart for the adult role model you were to me. R.I.P. old friend.

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in all the memories, for he is forever in your heart. 💕

Remember to smile when you eat noodles in the rice pattern bowls, as he said it tasted better in those bowls.

Sending deepest condolences.
