The death occurred peacefully at the Abbottsford Regional Hospital, on Thursday, February 20, 2025 of Herbert John Lamey of Maple Ridge, BC aged 69 years. Herb was born in New Glasgow N.S. to his late parents Daniel Alexander Lamey and Helen Ann Sarson and was the oldest of five siblings.

His loving spirit is carried on by his partner, Tracy Homfeld and his cherished daughter Sarah Katherine Lamey. Herb’s kind spirit and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of his siblings: Rick Lamey, Judy Lamey-Warren (Kevin), Mark Lamey and Lisa Doiron (Garth). A special uncle to Colin, Matthew, Zach, Tanner, Nisa and great uncle to Dakota and Ethan.

Herb had a deep passion for sports, especially hockey, football, and golf. He always kept up with the latest stats and standings, making him a go-to source for lively sports conversations. A voracious reader, he often had multiple newspapers in hand, staying informed and engaged with the world around him.

Originally from the East Coast, Herb deeply embraced what it meant to be from the Maritimes, carrying with him a love for its values, and way of life. His lifelong passion for seafood, especially lobster and mussels, always brought back fond memories of home. 

Herb had a special way of connecting with family, taking a genuine interest in their lives and listening with warmth and attentiveness, making everyone feel truly valued.

Above all, Herb’s greatest joy was his daughter, Sarah. Watching her grow, celebrating her achievements, and sharing in her passions filled him with immense pride and happiness.

Herb’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will always be cherished by those who knew him. His spirit lives on in the memories and hearts of all who were fortunate enough to share in his journey.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
