Gennady Vinnik, known as Garry, has been battling with Lung Cancer the last two years. He passed peacefully in his home on November 9th, surrounded by his loved ones.
He fought really hard for his life, even the last few weeks of his life he mentioned how he’d love another few years. He always cared for his loved ones and gave the best advice he could. He loved a good banter and wanted people around him to be successful.
He was very involved in his latest family lives and made sure they had everything that they needed to be better individuals. He loved his dog dearly, and treated her like family. His dog would never leave his side.
Garry always gave a helping hand to anyone that asked and made sure he was always present.
“Gena was the best man, strong, gentle and kind. We really loved him and when you would visit together. He is always with you and your family, in your hearts.“
“Gennady was a really good kind man, I remember when I was little he always took time to talk to me and give me the best hugs every time. He was the best”
A prayer service will be held for Garry on Monday November 21st at 12:00pm at the Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel at 11969 216 St Maple Ridge, followed by a graveside service at the Maple Ridge Cemetery at 1:00pm.

We met Gennady more than 10 years ago at a party that was organized at Buntzen Lake . This meeting was to turn into a close friendship between the families for years to follow.Easy going, smiling, humorous and very kind, Gennady had so much to share with everyone. He loved his family and welcomed others into it. Ever helpful and the soul of our get-togethers. On November 9, moved to the other realm. We will miss forever. The memories will always remain live.

We lost a great friend, reliable and faithful.
He had lived a complicated life. Life is not all cakes and ale.
Being a kid he had to prove his personality in his environs and this quenched his character. He became a person with his own point of view and he was ready to protect it.
After immigration to Canada here in Vancouver he met Noorina and they created a very friendly and very hospitable family.
It was great please to visit their home, to talk with Gena about different topics.
His knowledge and skills were highly appreciated by his colleagues.

So sad. So much more devastated to only learn this now. Dad, you have always been a rock for me. Always there with wise words, gentle guidance and a deep love for me and your granddaughters’ greatness and wellbeing. You always had our backs and we will forever have yours as you move into the heavens and be at peace. We know you will be watching over us with my mom from there. We can only hope to continue to make you proud. Forever to be held close to our hearts, never forgotten and always loved. A legacy lives on in our family because of you.

Garry was the best kind of person and I’m so glad to have known him. I always looked forward to spending time with him. He told the best stories that would stay with me years to come and make me smile upon reflection of what he shared. He was wise and calm and the type of person who could put situations in such good perspective.
He loved his family dearly and the love between him and Noorina his life partner was something most of us only dream to have. I’m so grateful to have known Garry he made a huge impact in this world and on the many people he loved. Garry you will be missed and never forgotten.
