Donna Marie Zimmerman
Donna Marie (Dilling) Zimmerman, age 74, passed away peacefully on a warm autumn day, October 8th, 2023 at home. She was born July 19th, 1949 in Oshawa, Ontario to Bill and Sophia Dilling.
Donna spent most of her career days as an administrative assistant, from her beginnings as a short hand typist for the Whitby, Ontario Courthouses, to the desks of Northern Express Couriers in Burnaby, BC. Perhaps her most enjoyable days though were spent working with her two sons at Bergman Motors & later Haney Automotive. A venture that in true Donna fashion she helped get off the ground and through her great admin experience plus fierce love for her boys she fueled the dream that then became the foundation for both of their careers. Those who walked through the shop doors were always in for a great treat with Donna's amazing storytelling and infectious laugh.
Donna loved baseball. Go Jay's!!!!! She named her dog Vlady for heaven's sakes... and never missed a game. She loved a great book, a large glass of wine, a crochet needle in her hand and a good game of gin rummy. Oh... And she did enjoy parties! But most of all Donna loved people. It was her hobby. She was curious about everyone and truly interested in their lives. She was a great listener and always was a shoulder to cry on. She was a therapist to some for sure and most definitely a mom to all. She was only grandma though to Susie. Susie Zimmerman was her pride and joy. She lived and breathed for her and made sure she passed on great advice (always dry your face in an upward motion to avoid wrinkles haha).
Donna is survived by her husband Michael Zimmerman and two sons Brad and Brandon Zimmerman, her granddaughter Susie Zimmerman and daughter in law's Karina Zimmerman and Heather McRitchie Zimmerman.
