It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts; we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mom, Devonna “Vonnie” Steeves (nee Gillmore).
She was an amazing Wife, Mother, Nana, Sister, colleague, caregiver and friend to so many.
She loved a good picnic with family and friends. Her favorite place was Lightening Lake at Manning Park. Watching the birds and the ground squirrels. She loved planting flowers in her garden. She looked forward to game nights “10,00 dice game, she was very competitive. In her downtime she watched tennis and hockey while cuddling with her cat.
Our Dad Peter passed away in 2016, its healing to know they are together again.
She was our Rock! You are always with us, so we will not say goodbye.

Vonnie was a wonderful aunt to me. I was blessed to spend a lot of time with Vonnie and her family when I was growing up.
She was there for many special moments of my life and she was always so encouraging and loving. I have so many happy memories during Birthdays, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas in the Steeves' house.
Vonnie made it a priority to bring family together to celebrate any special occasion and made everyone feel welcome and loved.
Vonnie raised a beautiful family and I am so blessed to have them in my life.
I miss her so much and she will always be in my heart.

Vonnie was such a big part of my life throughout the years as my sister(in law)
She worked hard and made everyone feel welcome.
I enjoyed our camping trip this last summer in Osoyoos and looked forward to many more. She raised a great family of caring people, and her grandson can share that legacy.
Such a sudden loss has left us in a state of shock and sadness, but she is still in our hearts, even with the big hole.
I am blessed to have her family to love.
Missing her deeply.

I knew Vonnie for over 30 years. Along the way I was introduced to the rest of the Gilmore clan and their extended family.
Vonnie invited me and many others to their family get together s. I enjoyed these events which included birthdays, game nights, suppers and holidays.
I remember one discussion with Vonnie about the importance of labor unions. Vonnie was a union person.
She was a good person.
I will miss her very much.

My brother was a very lucky fellow when he found "Vonnie" and had her by his side all those years. Their life was full with the birth of Michelle and Peter and Robbie as they grew up to adulthood. Vonnie was always so giving and always had time for others. That cheerful smile, quick wit, and helpful caregiving way about her made her one of a kind! I'll miss our visits and outings when I visited from out of town.
