As a young man, Al joined the RCN, serving on HMCS Ottawa and HMCS Saskatchewan, of which he commissioned and HMCS Stettler.  After leaving the Navy, Al became a transit operator for ETS (Edmonton) and BC Hydro (BC Transit) Victoria for 39 years.

Al was never short of a good joke and funny story. His infectious laughter left a mark with everyone he met.

Al played many years of old-timers hockey for the Peninsula Primetimers. His passion switched to golf. Playing golf, watching golf and talking about golf. He really enjoyed his trips to Arizona and Mazatlan, Mexico.

We are so sad Nettie, Peter and family for the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. We had hoped to see him during our annual trip to Vancouver.
George was proud to be Al's best man at your wedding and Peter's god father.
Al's mother and sister were proud supporters of One! International.
We have so many fun memories from Mexico, Arizona, B.C, Alberta, Sask., Ontario.
As well as being a "fun fellow", Al was a gentle, caring individual who always welcomed family with open arms.
We will miss him.
We are sending our love to all of you at this most difficult time.
