On December 30, 2023 Alice Floris, 87, of Maple Ridge, BC went home to be with the Lord. Alice was born December 5, 1936 in Nieuw Roden in The Netherlands. She had a happy childhood there, before immigrating to Canada in 1951 at age 14. Her family settled in Glen Valley, before moving across the Fraser River to call Maple Ridge home for the next 70+ years, where she met her husband Simon and raised 5 children. After arriving in Canada, Alice honed her skills of looking after others, working as a nanny for a prominent family in Vancouver, before having children and embarking on a lifetime of being a mother and a grandma, showering love on her kids, and grandkids, as well as students, family, and friends. Alice was predeceased by her husband (Simon), her father (George), her mother (Grace), and her sister (Alida). Alice leaves behind her 5 children; Coreen (Perry), Nancy, Mike (Teresa), Dave (Maureen), and Grant (Laurie), 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and countless friends and family scattered across the globe! Alice lived her life according to God’s Word and thrived sharing her gift of hospitality, taking to heart the words of Romans 12:13 “Contribute to the needs of God’s people and welcome strangers into your home.” and Proverbs 11:25 “Generous persons will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” After spending a lifetime welcoming others into her home, and being so generous with her time, there is no doubt that her Heavenly Father welcomed Alice to heaven to indeed be refreshed.
