Celebrating the Life of
Abbas Farahbakhchian
June 9th, 1941 – August 20th, 2023
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Abbas Farahbakhchian on August 20th at the Royal Columbian Hospital. Dad is predeceased by his mother & Father Mariam & Hossein, brother Esmahil, sisters Iran & Mahin. He is survived by his loving wife Linda of 58 years, his brother Ebrahim, sisters Marlara & Shahin. His daughter, Nessika, sons Karim (Cherie) & Tony (Lisa), grandchildren Victoria, Hannah, Riley, Kayla & Dane. And extended family & dear friends.
Dad was born in Iran and moved to Belgium in 1964 to study mechanical engineering, where he met Linda. They were married on August 25th, 1965 and Dad fulfilled his dream of moving the family to Canada in 1979 in the hope of a better life. Dad faced many challenges as a new immigrant but never gave up nor complained. Through hard work and dedication, dad built a successful metal art business. Part of his legacy can be seen through the many gates, railings, staircases, and other works of art he designed for his customers throughout the Lower Mainland.
Dad retired in 2007 to spend more time with his family, friends and enjoy his hobbies. Dad was an avid gardener who took great pride in his yard & vegetable garden. Many will remember dad riding his lawn tractor with his earmuffs, cutting the grass, & singing Persian songs. During the last few months of his life, dad reminisced about his life telling us he had lived a good life without regrets. He was proudest of the legacy he was leaving behind through his children & grandchildren. For those who wish to attend, Dad’s Celebration Of Life will be held on September 30th at the Meadows Garden Golf Course in Pitt Meadows from 14:00 to 17:00 hrs. Rest in peace Dad.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Farahbakhchian but I was lucky enough to hear stories from his 2 very proud sons.
One only had to meet Karim and Tony to know how they were raised, kind, polite and always willing to help others.
There is a large hole here on earth and I only hope I can share more memories and stories in the eyes of his two proud sons.
