Smith, William Lawrence

February 11, 1938 - April 27, 2021

Smith, William(Bill) Lawrence passed away peacefully on April 27, 2021, at the age of 83, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

A great husband and father, Bill married his loving wife Joan (nee Lenton) on February 24, 1962. Together they raised 3 children Lori, Larry (Annette), and Marcy McDaniel (Jamey). Bill is also survived by sisters Donna Ross and Linda Taylor, plus 4 grandchildren (Derek, Brad, Erica, and Jeff) and 2 great grandchildren (Easton and Maya).

Born in North Vancouver on February 11, 1938, Bill followed in his grandfather's footsteps and started working on tug boats in his teens. He became a captain and eventually had his own tug boat business until he retired. But Bill's real passion turned out to be golf. He didn't start to play until his mid forties, but was able to achieve his goal of shooting his age, while amassing 7 "hole-in-ones" along the way. He had a great group of golf friends, but also enjoyed being able to play with his son and 3 grandsons.

A celebration of life will be held at Golden Eagle Golf Club once we are all able to get together again.
