Marlene Alice Hussey Evans

August 10, 1936 – October 5, 2019

Marlene was a beloved wife to Dave for 63 years, a proud mother to Steven and Becky and a dear mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her sister Ruth and is predeceased by her twin brother Ron. Born and raised in Vancouver, Marlene worked as a dental assistant in the O.R. Following Dave and Marlene’s marriage, they moved to Victoria and started a family. They then spent time in Coquitlam and Kamloops before moving to Maple Ridge, where they have resided for over the past 30 years. Marlene was a beautiful caring, unselfish, gentle soul, who touched the lives of everyone she met. Her thoughtfulness, generosity, kindness and love of animals always shone brightly. She had an enormous passion to improve the lives of others and volunteered tirelessly with many organizations in her lifetime. Marlene was such a loving and caring wife, mother, family member and friend and will be deeply and forever missed by all. No service by request. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the SPCA.

Marlene was a tireless volunteer. I met her many years ago when I was managing the volunteer program at Ridge Meadows Hospital. She often shared stories of her time with the RMH Auxiliary and coordinating the Candystriper Program. After she finished that role, for years she would create beautiful faux flower arrangements for the patients and residents at RMH. But as much as the flowers brought joy, it was the time that Marlene took to stop and have a little visit with each person who received a bouquet. She was one of a kind. Thank you Marlene, for all the joy you brought to the hospital over the years. Rest In Peace.
