Obituary

GODFREY, Donald Everett

Aug 15, 1941 – Feb 26, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald (Don) Everett Godfrey.  Born in Winnipeg Manitoba, he lived there until moving to B.C. in 1968.

Don leaves behind his wife Ruth, son Derek (Gena), daughters Crystal and Janet, step-children Trevor (Lara) and Lisa, and seven grandchildren, Jordan, Justin, Jayson, Trey, Emma, Jack and Evelyn.  He will be missed by his sister Jeanette (Reg), niece Christine and nephew Craig (Pam), great nieces Erin, Brenna and Caitlyn.

Don retired from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in June 2009 after 38 years, leaving his job as a locomotive engineer. Don was passionate about golf and hockey, whether playing it or watching it.  In the last few years, he enjoyed a competitive game of bocce with his friends and neighbours at the Four Seasons at Terra Lago community where he and Ruth spent time during the winter months.

He was surrounded by his family as he passed away.  The family would like to thank Vancouver General Hospital ICU team for their tender care of Don and compassion for the family at his bedside.

There will be a CELEBRATION OF LIFE on Saturday April 25th, from 1 – 4 pm at the Star of the Sea Community Center, in White Rock.
