LUMSDEN, Patricia Anne
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Patricia Anne Lumsden. Patricia “Pat” was born on July 5th 1939 in Inverness, Scotland to Jessie and William Lumsden. Patricia immigrated to Canada in 1965 where she would spend the rest of her life. While living in Maple Ridge, Patricia worked as a social worker and established “Meals on Wheels,” which provided food to the elderly and those who were less fortunate. Despite a difficult life burdened by health issues and stressors, Patricia successfully raised her two sons - Jamie and John on her own and was both a mother and father to them. She was known to throw extravagant parties for them on their birthdays and filled the room with gifts and banners that hung on the wall. She will be remembered for her loving nature and radiant smile. The light of her life were her children and grandchildren whom were blessed to have spent time with her to create many memories throughout the years. In her final days, Patricia was surrounded by her family and passed peacefully while being read verses from the Bible and quietly listening to Scottish bagpipes playing songs such as “Mull of Kintyre” and “Oh Danny Boy.” Patricia will be deeply missed by her children: Jamie (Kashy) and John; her grandchildren: Mikaila, Matthew, Vanessa and Erica; as well as her siblings, nieces and nephews. She will be especially missed by her beloved sister Elizabeth (Betty) Christie who provided her with much comfort during her final days. Patricia’s family would like to thank the staff at Holyrood Manor for the support, kindness and care they provided Mam for the past sixteen years. Holyrood had become her home and the staff always made Mam feel welcomed and loved. The family would also like to thank Dr. Martin Milewski for his kind and compassionate care over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
