GEBOR, Heinz (Henry)
1934 - 2018
Heinz Gebor passed away peacefully on August 13, 2018 with family by his side. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Monica (Joseph) Ceraldi, daughter-in-law Patricia and grandchildren Jarrod and Gina. Predeceased by his wife Theresa (Terry) and son Richard. Born in Berlin Germany, Heinz traveled to Canada in 1954 with dreams of seeing the world. His travels ended in Vancouver where he met the love of his life Theresa and the two shared 53 years of marriage. They raised their family in East Vancouver and later enjoyed many weekends and summers at their property in Point Roberts with their friends and grandchildren. Heinz was an active Mason and Shriner and Terry was a Lady of the Nile so together they attended many functions in BC and the USA. (Hank) worked for BC Transit driving bus for 30 years. He was regarded by many of his regular passengers as a conscientious driver and good listener who they were sad to see retire. Heinz loved to work with his hands and could fix or build anything. He was an exceptionally talented woodworker who spent many hours in his shop building toys for his grandchildren or creating things for friends and family. He enjoyed his trips to the casino and coffee club at the Oakridge Seniors Center. Heinz was strong willed, had a quirky sense of humor and never hesitated to lend a hand to anyone that needed help. His strength and resilience helped him overcome incredible obstacles in his life and the challenges that he faced with stroke recovery. A memorial service will be held September 8, 1 p.m., at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, 11969 216th Street, Maple Ridge. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to Shriners of BC and Yukon or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
