It is with great sadness that the family of David Maharaj announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, in his Maple Ridge home at the age of 52 years. David will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 31 years, Jacquie Maharaj; his father Deo (Margret), mother Sushiela; brother Rob (Nadine); and son Shawn (Diana). David will also be fondly remembered by his only granddaughter, Sophie, nephew Nevin and niece Hayley.
David was born on December 30, 1965 in Trinidad to parents Deo and Susheila. He moved to Canada in 1970 and graduated from BC College of Optics in 1991 with a degree in Optometry. Eventually, David accepted a position at E-COMM 911 Emergency Communications where he worked for more than 19 years.
David was a dedicated family man, loving father and grandfather. He married Jacquie on August 8, 1987 and they moved back to Maple Ridge in 2004. David was a kind, gentle and friendly soul. He loved being with his family, fur babies(Snickers & Cookie) and friends. David had a variety of hobbies and interests which included collecting cars, computers and technical support, photography and dabbled in woodworking. His family and friends will always remember him as a generous, easy going and kind person who will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life in memory of David will be held at a future date. Celebration of Life information will be updated at Osborn's Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel site. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of David to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
