Jean (nee Gomme) Matheis
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Matheis on November 14, 2017 at McKenney Creek Hospice in Maple Ridge, B.C. Jean was 74 years old and was constantly surrounded and supported by the love of her family. She was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on February 8, 1943. Jean is survived by her adoring husband, Norman Matheis, her three loving daughters Delee LaBelle, Deana Ward and Dayna Matheis. Jean’s grandchildren, Dayna Brimble, Kyle LaBelle, Aimee LaBelle, Marc LaBelle and great grandson Colton Brimble will never forget her special love for each one of them. She will be missed by her sisters Debbie Plantz, Nancy Gould and brothers Elgin and Dick Gomme. She was also loved by her many nieces and nephews and was blessed with many friends who reside on the Prairies. Jean was the kind of person who always remained true to her values, her courage and strength shone through in everything she did. She was truly an inspiration and a role model for her three daughters whom she taught to never give up and love with all your heart and soul. Jean’s determination to fight her life long battle with lupus and living with a heart pump is a testament to her love for her family. She was determined not to miss out on the important events in her daughters’ and her grandchildren’s lives. She will always be remembered for her unconditional love. The family would like to express their thanks and sincere gratitude for the care and support she received at McKenney Creek Hospice. Not only did the staff care for Jean with love and compassion, they continually supported her husband and daughters. We would also like to thank St. Pauls cardiology staff for supporting Jean on an LVAD for six years. Without your support, she would not have had the opportunity to attend her grandchildren’s milestones or witness the birth of her great grandson. Jean will forever be missed and lovingly remembered for her strength and courage.
A celebration of life will be held at Golden Eagle Golf Course on January 21, 2018 from 1 – 4 p.m.
