KIRK (nee Menzies), Jean Vivien Nelson, was born in Pitt Meadows, B.C. July 22, 1917 and passed away peacefully on May 4th at the age of 99. Jean married Walter Nelson, August 9, 1940 and was predeceased by him in 1986. Her second husband Jack Kirk died in 2007. Jean was also predeceased by her brother Jim and sisters Mary, Dorothy and Wilma, all children of the late Hal and Ethel Menzies (Hal Menzies Realty); as well as her granddaughter, Sierra Young and daughter in law Arlene Nelson.
Jean grew up in Pitt Meadows and raised her family predominantly in Hammond and Youbou, returning to Pitt Meadows in 1975, to reside on the much love land homesteaded by her grandfather. An amazing woman, Jean leaves to mourn her large and loving family of six children and their families, including eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild as well as many nephews, nieces and other family members and friends. We will all miss her gracious charm and wonderful sense of humour. Service of Remembrance to be held Saturday, June 10th, at 1:30 pm at Golden Ears United Church, 22165 Dewdney Trunk Rd, Maple Ridge. Rev. Leenane Shiels officiating. Those choosing to make a donation in lieu of flowers could do so to the Golden Ears United Church.
